A New Milestone to Celebrate!

WOOHOO!!  As someone once said, we do live our lives with a lot of “WOOHOO!!”  This particular WOOHOO!! is about our 150th published pattern… WOOHOO!!

We were chatting with our agent this morning and I said something about “a long time ago” in reference to a conversation I had with an editor when I first started publishing designs in magazines.  We got a good laugh out of it because that conversation was only 3 years ago… not “a long time ago” at all.  Ya know what I mean though?  There’s been a lot of living packed into the last three years… sometimes it’s been a bit of a roller coaster… but we’ve loved sharing it with all of you.

Since our first designs were published in the Fall of 2010 we have:

Published 5 books with Leisure Arts
Heady Affairs
And That’s A Wrap!
Urban Edge
Cool Weather Fashions
Crochet Ponchos

Jason came to work full-time in the studio (WOOHOO!!)

Started our own independent publishing company, Shibaguyz Publishing for working with designers and yarn companies with small to mid-scale publishing needs

Started Shibaguyz Photography

Worked with some of the LEGENDS in the fiber industry

We have been featured 10 times on the covers of US and UK magazines

Drank a lot of coffee (and replaced 2 coffee pots)

Published our first book of knitwear patterns, Moonstruck, with our publishing partners Mango Moon Yarns

Amassed a yarn stash that had to be added as an asset on our homeowner’s insurance

Converted two rooms of our house into studio spaces for Shibaguyz Designz and Shibaguyz Photography/Publishing

Ate a LOT of chocolate… a lot…

Been featured in 5 magazine profiles

We really are grateful for everything that has come our way along this path we have taken.  There is hardly a day that goes by without us looking around at what we have and feeling like two VERY lucky Shibaguyz.  It really is a thrill to look around and take inventory of everything we have accomplished then think about how much more there must be still ahead!  Now THERE’s a reason to get up in the morning!

So how to celebrate this milestone?  We think we have the PERFECT way to mark this 150 published design… We are going to let you all decide what we publish next!

We have a set of patterns sitting here… just sitting here… that have been previously published in magazines.  Sometimes, when we publish a design in a magazine, the rights to publish that pattern come back to us after a certain amount of time.  Well, upon going through those patterns… there are quite a few of them!  As a matter of fact, we can’t quite decide which one of these patterns to publish next.  We have taken all new photos, had the patterns updated, and they are ready to roll out to you all.  Now… which one first??

You decide!

Here are the designs we currently have that we have repackaged and are ready to put up for sale.  All you have to do is leave a comment here on this post telling us which one we should publish first.  The design with the most votes wins and we will put the pattern up for sale on our website.  Got it? Good… We will start with four… here are your choices…

Ribbons & Lace Top – Crochet! Magazine, Spring 2013

Our fourth and final design by Shibaguyz Designz featured in the Spring 2013 issue of Crochet! Magazine is the Ribbons & Lace Top made in Classic Elite Yarns Provence mercerized Egyptian cotton. A solid stitched upper body with lace stitch arms and hip panels make this piece just light and pretty enough for the warmer Spring and Summer days ahead.  The scoop neck and vented side panels make the Ribbons & Lace Top an easy fit on a variety of sizes and body types. The ribbon lace-up detailing on the sleeves add a customizable touch to this feminine, pretty top.

Half ‘n’ Half Duster – Crochet Magazine, Spring 2013

As if to help us celebrate National Crochet Month with Shibaguyz Designz, the folks at Crochet! magazine have released their Spring 2013 issue the same week we are giving away a 1 year print subscription to Crochet! magazine.  Okay… it’s probably just a coincidence… still… it’s REALLY good timing!  Make sure you go back and check out the details on how you could win a 1 year print subscription to Crochet! magazine.  Oh… also don’t forget about our big Grand Prize Pinterest contest… ’cause that’s a BIG prize.

What else could possibly make the Spring 2013 issue of Crochet! magazine so special? Well… not only is the Vivaldi Throw by Shibaguyz Designz on the cover (WOOHOO!!) but we also have three other designs featured in the same issue (double WOOHOO!!).

The first of these patterns is the Half ‘n’ Half Duster crocheted in Crystal Palace Yarns Panda Silk.

Vivaldi Throw – Crochet! Magazine Spring 2013 Cover

Talk about great timing!  This week, as part of our National Crochet Month with Shibaguyz Designz celebration, we are giving away a one year print subscription to Crochet! magazine.  We just posted that yesterday and today… VOILA! The Spring 2013 issue of Crochet! magazine comes out and what’s that on the cover?  Yes… yes it is…

The cover of the Spring 2013 issue of Crochet! magazine is the Vivaldi Throw by Shibaguyz Designz made in Lion Brand Collection Cotton Bamboo. WOOHOO!!

We are particularly proud of this one as this is our third cover for Crochet! magazine.  They did a FAB job with the presentation of this one showing the throw on a model… our favorite Crochet! magazine model, by the way.

Check out the Crochet! magazine website as well as our Ravelry project page for more details about this design. When you go to the Crochet! magazine website, be sure to scroll down to the preview video for this issue narrated by Executive Editor, Carol Alexander for a sneak peak of the three other designs by Shibaguyz Designz featured in this same issue.  More on those other three later this week.

And now… on to the pretty pictures!

Deva from Moonstruck: Ten Sensuous Knit Patterns; Size S-5X

Deva-2

Deva - Poncho Top from Moonstruck by Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby for Mango Moon Yarns. Photography and Layout by Shibaguyz Photography.
Made from Mango Moon Yarn’s Bulu, this oversized poncho-style top with cowl neck is one of the favorites among the models. The movement of the body with the flattering details of the cowl neck and sleek sleeves make Deva a comfortable and classic piece you will wear time and time again.

Bulu yarn has quickly become one of my favorite yarns to work with. The stitch definition and wonderful colors make this yarn a texture lovers dream. The 100% merino wool is hand-dyed using plants indigenous to the region of Indonesia where the yarn is made. The subtle color variances give garments a beautiful sense of visual movement and depth.

Moonstruck: Ten Sensuous Knit Patterns, Size Small–5X Now available for purchase as an immediate digital download or pre-order before February 15, 2013. Flip through the lookbook and find more information on purchasing at http://Shibaguyz.com/moonstruck

This tank is a quick project knit in the round from the bottom up with the front and back shoulders and necklines worked separately.  A quick three-needle bind off at the shoulders is all the finishing you will need. Weave in a few ends and you have a new staple for your wardrobe. Special attention has been paid to the front and back necklines as well as the armholes to ensure comfortable wearing without shoulders that slip around.  From top to bottom, this piece sits comfortably and looks FAB on your body.
