Materials
Any worsted/medium weight yarn; CYCA 4
H/8 – 5.00mm crochet hook
Finished dimensions
9×7” with H/8 – 5.00mm hook (or hook size needed to obtain finished dimensions)
Stitch Guide
Foundation half double crochet (Fhdc): Ch 3, yo, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook, yo, pull lp through, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (ch-1 completed), yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook (hdc completed), * yo, insert hook in last ch-1, yo, pull lp through (ch 1), yo, pull through 1 loop on hook, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook (hdc); repeat from * for indicated number of foundation stitches.
Split half double crochet (Split-hdc): Yo, insert hook in last st worked, yo and draw up a loop, insert hook in next st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Pattern
Row 1: 27 Fhdc, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, hdc in 1st st, work Split-Hdc across, turn.
Row 3 – 19: Repeat Row 2.
Row 20: Ch 1, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
Block finished square to 9×7”. For best blocking results with acrylic, we recommend using a garment steamer or… heck… even the steam from a teakettle would work great! Then pin the piece into place and leave to set until completely dry
